Latest Beauty Reviews...

Hey everyone,

So my skin regime has been working really well on the whole recently (if you want to see the current post click here), but I noticed that tee tree alone was not strong enough to really get shot of my spots. So about two weeks ago I decided to pick up the Superdrug Deep Action anti-blemish gel which it claims has the maximum concentration of salicylic acid allowed, and based on the results I have seen so far, I'm impressed and a proper review will come after a months use.

Also I've been loving some lip products. First are two lip balms, one is the Lip Service from Lush which is very healing and good if you have dry or chaffed lips. It is very solid when you get a new tin but it soon melts with body heat and becomes a perfect consistency, which when applied to the lips is just perfect. It is very neutrally tasting so perfect if you have a favourite flavour gloss to go over the top as it won't ruin it.

But then my tin of Lip Service, which had been outlasting everything in my make up bag, got used up and so I bought my second lip product, which was the Nivea Essential Care lip balm. This is an old classic but personally I used to hate the taste of the balm, which I know is only minor to how well it works, but on trying for the past days I've learnt to really love it and it's healing properties are better than any of my other Chapsticks, so for now I am choosing nourishment, especially in this colder weather where my lips dry out a lot.

So finally to a face mask. I love doing a weekly mask and I previously was using the Tea Tree on from The Body Shop, but I had loads of Lush pots cluttering up my room so I exchanged 5 of them for my ultimate mask Catastrophe Cosmetic. It is blueberry based and smells divine as well as containing calming calamine which is very great at bringing down redness if you are having a bad skin day. The mask dries nicely but as it has so many healing and soothing ingredients it doesn't actually dry out your skin and is perfect in my opinion!

I hope you all enjoyed my beauty reviews,

See you soon for a fashion week related post

Be in tip-top condition...

Hey all,

It is rather ironic that I am writing this post as I am watching Strictly Come Dancing, which is by far the most sparkly TV show ever, and I am talking about my new love - embellished tops. Not only are they the perfect evening outfit but they also often don't require jewellery as they come with essentially a necklace attached.

So I hope you all feel slightly sparkly now, Strictly was interesting tonight but I can see a few who are doing well straight out of the gate .

Anyway next post is my beauty reviews,
Hope you are well,

Back to Blogging

Hello everyone,

I always seem to start a post with an apology recently. I'm sorry for not blogging in ages, my life went from fine level of busy to manic in a few weeks and it is safe to say I couldn't really find the time to focus and blog. BUT I have been keeping my eyes out in the fashion-sphere so that now I am faced with my long tube journey to West London I am able to write this post! YAY!

First, where has all the colour gone. :( . I know it's winter and nights start at 5pm now but come on! All I do all week is wear black, I don't then want to wear it all weekend too! But the high street is full of it! Tartan has taken a dull tone too!

No I will not give in, obviously I cannot eliminate black from my wardrobe (one of my favourite cardigans is black) but I will not simply slip into the darkness! I will combat it with the main weapon at my disposal, my t-shirt collection. It is my main source of colour and it's great; if I think yellow will be good today, I have two options of tee, one in bright and one in a more pastel shade. This is why I love t-shirts, although I am less reckless as I used to be and haven't bought one in a while!

Next up is jewellery, yay! For my regular readers you'll know I am a bit of a magpie. A current trend I am still observing for practicality is the multi-ring trend. I am a lover of a show-stopping ring, it doesn't have to be huge but just really special, however wearing multiple ones seems slightly cluttered and I have seen it done to over-kill. I will keep looking.
(Also a little aside for you Tiffany's fans: the history of Tiffany on the website takes you through some of the most iconic pieces from the jewellery house - check out the site if you want to see them, but it may cause envy, sorry.)

Finally, on the make up front. The one-nail-a-different-colour trend. I am yet to see it done fabulously, apart from maybe in a magazine when it was new. I have seen variants that are just too random, I understand the trend calls for clashing but I think that sticking within the same colour tone/ shade would be easier on the eye. Or just have a lovely manicure of one colour? I may still be a bit cynical so I will look for ones I like and post them for you next time.

Anyway, I promise to be back again soon!

Thank you to all of you for reading and clicking like on Facebook! If you want to see something on this blog then just drop a comment below or on one of this pages social networks and I will reply asap!

Fashion Update!!

Hey guys,

So lots of things have been going on in the fashion world it is so hard to keep up! But I have picked my top 5 from all the stories:

First off things have been going down at Burberry, hot things. New couple on the block Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge are the brands face for Autumn/Winter 2013 and the shoot was amazing. And super steamy! The photographer was definitely third wheeled as the loved up pair did their thing.

Secondly, it seems that all good things appear from Dior at the moment. I finally got myself a new mascara from the Diorshow range as it is simply the best! (queue the cheesy music) While also I found that they have re-branded my favourite perfume Miss Dior Cherie into simply Miss Dior and I was scared that I wouldn't like the new scent however I am pleased to inform the blogosphere that I loved it just as much as the old one! (It is not that much different tbh, slightly fresher but still fab!)

Thirdly, my new fashion love: my legs! After loosing a bit of weight in the new year I realised just how fab my legs are and subsequently have gone a bit, no a lot summery. Today's purchases are two pairs of shorts and a fab skirt sure to feature in some outfits soon, ahh I love the sun!

Fourthly, sing along now "And it was all yellow!" As with summer comes a colour of the season and this time round it seems that yellow is it. I own three yellow dresses from my not so long ago dress buying addiction and I guess I now have the weather to wear them! Again yay for summer!

Finally, the men behind the label Dolce and Gabbana were sentenced to time in prison in Italy last month for tax evasion! I was shocked to say the least! This story is one of a string recently, where companies or individuals seek to avoid paying tax. Now I know nobody likes to pay it and it seems to not be the easiest thing to do despite living in a modern age, but in times of global recessions etc. I think that evading tax is shady behaviour and I hope that now it's a public interested issue, less of it will happen in the future.

So that's today's fashion update, it took a long time to come as I have just been made a captain of my college and the responsibilities piled up quickly as I had to help plan end of year social events, sorry guys, will be back on form asap as college finishes this week!

Hope you're all enjoying the weather!

Brit Pop Princess: Adele vs. Pixie... I need this solved... Help?

Hey guys,

I have been in the middle of an argument between two of my friends for a long time now and so I have finally decided to solve it by asking my loyal readers to help me out if you will.

So I am going to list the pro's and con's of both of the fabulous females and its up to you to decide who is the victor and silence my dear friends.

Firstly, Pixie Lott.
Well Pixie Lott has come along way since she auditioned for Britannia High in 2007 and was turned down because she had a 'soulful' voice. However, that initial let down got her two chart topping albums that were so successful that they have sold close to 1.2 million copies together since their release. Her début hit with 'Turn It Up' (2009) contained a eclectic mix of lively upbeat tunes and slower more emotional tracks that are a pleasure to listen to. The album went double platinum and was released with a deluxe version called 'Turn It Up Louder' which included a song with Jason Derulo. After this in 2011 came her second hit 'Young Foolish Happy' which has included 3 top ten hits and scored an entry to the charts at number 1. She has won 7 awards from Virgin Media Music Awards to MTV European Music Awards.
While her music career shines, she has had several fashion collections with Lipsy, which sell out almost instantly, including the A/W 2011 collection, pieces of which you can see at lipsy.co.uk.
So to sum up Pixie Lott is a fashionable, talented, 21 year old with songs to make you party or just to improve your mood. And she has a hot boyfriend. And she is a London girl. And she is brave with her look.
Does it mean she wins the new Brit pop princess title though?

Secondly Adele.
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. London girl - World Class sensation. From obscurity to 2007 when she won the Critics Choice award at The Brits, Adele's assent to fame has been astronomical. Her début single '19' (she was 19 at the time), which she released in 2008 was an instant commercial and critical success and has since become 4 times platinum. It went straight to number 1 on the UK charts and was highly regarded on the Billboard 200. Then in 2011, Adele released 21 and three songs off the album became worldwide number one. She has won 37 awards up to date with 93 nominations ranging from Brits to Grammy's.
So for fashion Adele tends to stick to dark colours to accentuate her fab red hair that is always shiny and brilliant. She loves both heels and flats and oozes an ease of style that is subtle. In fact in September 2011 she was on the cover of Vogue UK and is also to be on the cover of Vogue US for March 2012.
So to sum Adele's candidacy up: She is really successful, had a very relatable life, is beautiful and has songs that read like a biography. She is glamorous yet soft. Tough with an edge. Down to Earth with a voice that is out of this world.
Does she win Brit Pop Princess however?

So here it is, as best as I can make the cases for the two amazing women that dominate British music, very similar and yet worlds apart. It's over to you know folks,
Comment or let me know on facebook who you think wins!

Trend Round Up 2011...

Hey guys,

Again a long absence, I am not very good at keep this updated am I? This year the fashion world went through many stages, at the end of 2010 into early 2011 the edginess that had been growing came through and heels went high and spiky and the dresses became black and sharp cut, some even had literal jagged edges!

Then in Spring as new life was born so was the word 'Eclectic' and such came the clashing of patterns and colours down the runways, although this took its time to get to the high-street. Meanwhile all the shops latched on to the bold brights and the 'new' trouser style (MASSIVE LEGS) none of which really took my fancy - I discovered a love for dresses and vintage and managed to rack up a huge amount of them and now my closets bursting lol! Along with wide leg trousers kicking out the skinny legs, mini skirts got kicked out by maxi and midi length which was a boggling minefield of creating your own dresses out of lengthy skirts and coloured shirts, which was both inventive and individual.

As we headed towards summer, well all the rules got torn up and most went back to nautical with a blink of an eye and little miss sailors and dolls came flooding back - I spent my summer in a pool and then my silk maxi so I can't really comment. When I landed home along came the loafers just in time for back to school to remove the brogues to the bargain bin. Every girl wanted to max out the men shoe trend - I stuck to pumps.

As autumn came so did an out of this world trend walked the runways and the shops turned to burgundy and autumnal colours and vintage waltzed back into fashion. Stars were bought along by D&G and they made a huge impact. I got myself a starry ring and ooh over the bags wishing I was amongst the stars and supernovas. Skinnys also came back as warmth was needed and knitted cardigans much taking reference to cricket jumpers flooded to the shops and then we were lead up to Christmas when..... out of nowhere came FUR! Fur jackets are all the rage right now from River to the Top of the Shops and we all want to be abominable snowmen for the winter time. Where do I sign up?

So what will the new year bring? Maybe a firework of colour?

Best Wishes,

Summer Lovin'.....

Hey Guys and Dolls,

So I recently went on holiday to Greece and I stayed in a place called Tolo on the Peloponnese. I did much tanning and swimming, met some lovely people whom I plan to keep in contact with forever and yes I shopped!

While the majority of my holiday was spent enjoying a cool beverage/ ice cream by the pool or on the beach I did manage to get quiet a lot of shopping done actually and hit some major trend branches on my way.

Firstly I went on a short jewellery craze. I bought two necklaces from a company called Fly (fairy one and the hello kitty one) - they are going to look so kitsch and cute I cannot wait to wear them. I also bought an E=mc² bracelet - It's very special equation for me, not only was it thought of by one of my hero's Einstein but also because in my very first Chemistry lesson of Secondary School I said it and everyone looked at me and thought I was a geek, well guys I am, deal with it. I then bought a Juicy Couture Charm for my bracelet in Hydra (a Greek island) of flowers in a basket as it was both summery and seriously awesome - although it will weigh a lot lol! Finally I bought a Aphrodite charm for a necklace. As some of you know I write an advice blog called Dear Aphrodite (http://dearaphrodite.blogspot.com/) and think I am the most like her out of the 12 other Greek Gods. It was made by an amazing silversmith in Tolo and it will always remind me of my holiday.

I also bought several bags. The two pictured are a hello kitty backpack - I am the hello kitty child, it sooo cute I couldn't resist and a floral print bag from Tally Weijl which is both beach chic but will carry me through to autumn as well.

Finally to hit a massive trend is a little pattern that has splashed across the catwalks and filtered to the high street - Stars by Dolce and Gabbana. Now as my allowance like many teenagers will not stretch to D&G, I was lucky to of come across my own take on the trend in a scarf/sarong. This was found in a shop called Jasmine in Hydra and it was one of many beautiful objects in the shop. It was so hard to choose but I am so lucky to of found such a A/W 2011 staple. Here it is:

So thanks for allowing me to take you guys through my summer holiday purchases,

Stay true to your own style,
