Haul!!

Hello everyone!

So as I mentioned before I have been shopping a lot! This is a kinda continuation from the last post except everything I have bought is from the UK so I guess it's a home haul lol!

  • I went to the River Island sale and bought this tee, jumper and jacket. The t-shirt was just too cool - one problem is the sizing as it said it was a size 8 but it so wasn't, unless it was supposed to be a dress as it was still baggy on me and I am not a size 8 at all! The jacket is fab! I just love it's quirkiness and the jumper, well my name is Amber so it seemed only right that I bought it, if not because it was cool but just for self promotion lol!

  • I also went to Accessorize which is a place I just can't resist and bought this owl bag. I have no place to wear it yet but I don't care! I love it!

  • I have also been buying make up! I bought this MAC palette of eye shadow because it is all the colours I was looking for and because its MAC it will be good quality. (MAC palette in pastellux, £30)

  • I also discovered this shop that I had never been in before called "& other stories" on Regent Street in London. The shop is so cool, it had everything, from posh shampoo (£19 per bottle, ouch), to the cutest hair accessories that my mum bought and clothes, bags and make up! I bought this little eyelash brush for £2 because I find that even with the ultimate mascara (Diorshow waterproof 090 black, £28) sometimes my eyelashes clump too much and I will use it to fan them out. I tested it this morning and it works!

  • I also bought a t-shirt from David & Goliath (£10) which is so cute, I am a bit of a nerd and I have a cat which makes this Mew-bacca tee all the more appropriate.

  • My local supermarket is an ASDA and whilst getting some food I picked up this cute jumper (£16) that is not only dark red which is the colour of the season but it's also so comfy!

So that is my recent haul, I need to stop now or I am going to run out of money and won't be able to go anywhere!!

Luv you all,

Fashion Update!!

Hey guys,

So lots of things have been going on in the fashion world it is so hard to keep up! But I have picked my top 5 from all the stories:

First off things have been going down at Burberry, hot things. New couple on the block Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge are the brands face for Autumn/Winter 2013 and the shoot was amazing. And super steamy! The photographer was definitely third wheeled as the loved up pair did their thing.

Secondly, it seems that all good things appear from Dior at the moment. I finally got myself a new mascara from the Diorshow range as it is simply the best! (queue the cheesy music) While also I found that they have re-branded my favourite perfume Miss Dior Cherie into simply Miss Dior and I was scared that I wouldn't like the new scent however I am pleased to inform the blogosphere that I loved it just as much as the old one! (It is not that much different tbh, slightly fresher but still fab!)

Thirdly, my new fashion love: my legs! After loosing a bit of weight in the new year I realised just how fab my legs are and subsequently have gone a bit, no a lot summery. Today's purchases are two pairs of shorts and a fab skirt sure to feature in some outfits soon, ahh I love the sun!

Fourthly, sing along now "And it was all yellow!" As with summer comes a colour of the season and this time round it seems that yellow is it. I own three yellow dresses from my not so long ago dress buying addiction and I guess I now have the weather to wear them! Again yay for summer!

Finally, the men behind the label Dolce and Gabbana were sentenced to time in prison in Italy last month for tax evasion! I was shocked to say the least! This story is one of a string recently, where companies or individuals seek to avoid paying tax. Now I know nobody likes to pay it and it seems to not be the easiest thing to do despite living in a modern age, but in times of global recessions etc. I think that evading tax is shady behaviour and I hope that now it's a public interested issue, less of it will happen in the future.

So that's today's fashion update, it took a long time to come as I have just been made a captain of my college and the responsibilities piled up quickly as I had to help plan end of year social events, sorry guys, will be back on form asap as college finishes this week!

Hope you're all enjoying the weather!

Fashion in Film - Sex and The City

Hey guys,

Ok so this morning it is raining in London - shock! Also I have become a tennis fan, maybe years of my great granddad making me watch it has cultivated a love for it - I'm going to root for Laura Robson, she is so inspirational, and it is nice to have an iconic British player that is female, especially for us fans who don't like Murray.
So I'm writing this on my way to a university conference and my iPod is blasting in my ears, it is psychic and just knows what I want to listen to. But anyway, this post is not about me; it's about four ladies and one very big city.

Sex and The City is one of America's greatest exports. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte captured women's hearts around the world with their crap boyfriends and intriguing lives that seemed to deal with every problem we all go through. Although it was a very female orientated show I think it gave men an insight into the lives of women and what we go through in a relationship, like giving away secrets of our lives.

The ladies all have such unique styles and I love that they rock their own look, sometimes it's retro and sometimes it is haute couture, whatever it is, its always fabulous.

Sex and The City has taught me many things, from how to shop with unlimited funds and with a custom wardrobe, to how to spend hours with my girlfriends having the funniest times of my life.

Thank you ladies,

You did go to the ball but what did you wear Cinderella?

Hey guys,

So this week was the ever famous Met Ball which this year wanted those lucky enough to be given invites to dress "Punk" in an ode to the new exhibition - well this week provided me with the time to reflect on who wore what and my conclusions I will write down now.

I feel I should start with my idea of punk and the image I get takes the form of my mum when she was younger. Now I have been informed that fish nets and hair dye were the order of the time and that was punk being tame!

So how did the social elite dress for it? Well it was more ball less punk, which I don't think is very sporting as its like going to a fancy dress party not in fancy dress!

I like top 5's but I have to include in one section two women so I guess it is a top 6 in reality:

  • Julianna Hough looked amazing in a custom Topshop dress and her hair was also bang on punk, I love the ripped bottom to the dress and her edgy heels just make the look!
  • Next to be bestowed my praise is model of the moment: Cara Delevingne. This lady is fierce and wow, look at her dress. Unlike Sienna Miller who put a studded jacket over a dress, Cara went for it in Burberry and she for me just looks naturally rebellious!
  • Sarah Jessica Parker, step right up! This was one of the most extravagant outfits of the night, a headpiece from Philip Treacy, the widest Giles Deacon dress and thigh high Louboutins! All the pieces by themselves channel punk, the headpiece was shaped like a mohican and the boots were the shiniest tartan. The wardrobe malfunction made it all the more punk!
  • So when I was talking to my mum she said that when she used to go clubbing there was always a girl dressed as a bride and I think Rooney Mara got the message! Not only did she wear a white floor length Givenchy gown but she managed to make it cool not creepy. I think she got the ball and the punk elements perfect!
  • So finally are two women who did things right but the whole look was very wrong: Madonna and Nicole Richie. Both looked strange and kinda scary! However there were some elements of their outfits that were spot on, I mean I loved Nicole's hair and Madonna had elements of genius in the fish nets, the tartan and the pink shoes but she just didn't look good as an outfit. I'm sorry ladies, sack your stylists!!

So this was really late I'm sorry but my exams will soon be over!

Luv you all,

My mummy nominated me for a Liebster Blog award and this is her blog if you'd like to check it out (its a life blog with craft woven in (PUN lol!) - click here!

There are the Five Rules:
Thank and link back to the blogger who presented you with the award (above)
List 11 random facts about yourself
Answer 11 random questions from the person who presented you with the award
Create 11 random questions for your nominees
Present/nominate a Liebster Blog Award to more newbie bloggers! (no tag backs)

The 11 random things about myself:
  1. I cry at chick flicks, usually at the part where the couple kiss, or if they get back together after a bad break up.
  2. I have a periodic table on my wall which I am trying to learn. I am getting there.
  3. I have always been in admiration of Cinderella, that girl had a tough life but it turned out ok.
  4. I love going into designer shops, although I couldn't go into Chanel I just hyperventilated outside.
  5. If someone gave me the choice between eternal life, and one amazing day on earth, I'd pick the one day, because eternal life is sucky if the people you love die, unless your like the Cullen's and your whole family lives forever too.
  6. I would love to have a super power, or magic, I think that would be cool.
  7. I love being able to pass on my knowledge to people, it's no good knowing stuff if you can't talk to others about it.
  8. I love all of my friends and I love them no matter what.
  9. My favourite movie is Pride and Prejudice or the Holiday.
  10. I have a lot of teddy bears, and rabbits and other creatures, they all have names and are part of my family.
  11. I struggle to walk in heels, really struggle. I hope I will get there some day.

Questions from my mum (my answers are in italics):
  • What is your earliest memory? I have a few but I remember being really happy and giggly, helping my mum bake cupcakes by cracking eggs.
  • What song defines you as a person/ do you most relate to? there are many but my favourite at the moment is Pick A Part That's New by the Stereophonics and the one that has the most memories attached is Don't Stop Moving by S Club 7 as it was on the first CD I ever bought.
  • What is your favourite cake? Chocolate deffo!
  • What is under your bed right now? My mum's artwork and her Black Crowes poster - I can't wait to see them live myself and understand why she likes them. Also some Teen Vogue magazines.
  • Who was your first romantic idol? Not sure what this is but if it means whose love life I most wanted then it would be Cinderella again as she got a prince and he loved her for herself.
  • What talent do you have that is least known by your friends? Errm, well I can tell where people buy their clothes from if they aren't basics like vest tops - I am good at Jeans especially.
  • Describe your favourite moment of your life so far? Every time I hug my mum.
  • Who/ what is your greatest disappointment? The people who walk away from me, because I am a really good person and they miss out on that.
  • What is your guilty pleasure? Quiz shows or daytime TV. Oh and Forever 21.
  • What quality do you most admire in others? Strength in the face of adversity.
  • What historical figure would you most like to meet and why? Boudicca because she was a strong lady who stood up for what se believed in.

The questions I would like those I present this award to please answer are:
  1. If you could kiss anyone famous who would it be?
  2. What's your favourite flower?
  3. How many pairs of shoes do you own?
  4. What's your favourite movie quote?
  5. If you could be on TV what show would you be in?

Yee-Ha! Fashion Gone With The Wind!

Howdy dear readers!

(Always wanted to say that)

Anyway, this post has been a long time coming but this season there is a particular overload of cowgirl/cowboy chic. And I have to admit I have been caught in the hype. Spurred (sorry, this post may contain a lot of puns) on by shows like Dallas and Nashville and go back to the re-release of Footloose (not as good as the original, just saying).

So how does all of this representation translate into clothes, well I will give you the break down:

  • Denim. Shorts and Skinny Jeans. Pale blue for spring especially but anything goes. Acid wash is ok if you want to grunge up your look and ripped jeans if you want that "working all day in the yard look" Oh and Gents out there, it is the same for you guys! (just watch the shorts, please). The Levis I picked out were designed to go over cowboy boots in 1969!
  • Checked Shirts. These will always be around, always. I have not yet seen a season in three years where these haven't popped up. Last summer I rocked my faded red and blue shirt that tied at the waist and it was so nice between pool and lunch, (if you are currently in Arctic weather and have forgotten what summer is it will come I promise, it is finally sunny in London although bitterly cold) I digress, but the point is find a style that suits and rock them, undone with a vest underneath, tied, buttoned up to the neck, this is the time to experiment.
  • Neck Scarves. Traditionally seen as girly but if you are rocking a Stetson guys, a triangle tied round your neck will complete your outfit, very Clint Eastwood.
  • Finally, the shoes, well the boots. Since I watched Footloose (original) I have lusted after Ariel's red cowboy boots and have come very close to buying many pairs but may get my self some after all this time. They are cool on guys and girls, just hunt on the internet for the best style for you. I want to wear mine all the time so no heel for me, but again with this style let your personality shine.

So here we go, Toy Story style, I can't wait to be a blonde Jessie!

Lots of luv,
