Fashion in Film - Oceans' 11,12,13...

Hey guys,

So I usually write about fashion centred around women but I hope there are men out there that have come across my blog and maybe read a few lines but haven't felt like I've aimed at post at you... until now. This post is about the gorgeous men in the Oceans' films and how to dress like them and ladies there may also be some tips if you want to dress the men in your life in a similar way.

I chose the Oceans' films as the men wear a wide range of clothes from the Casino smart suits, relaxed casual wear for planning meetings or the luxury cruise wear that comes with the teams multi-million dollar excursions. I love that each of the guys has their own style, be it the slick Clooney dark suit or the luxuriously casual Pitt attire. The movies also show off men of all ages; from fresh - faced Matt Damon to the more refined Carl Reiner, which again forms them into a unique trilogy that I would recommend to anyone.

So here are my top tips for dressing Oceans' style:

- Suits have to be matching and within a colour palette. It seems really simple but it is easy to get it wrong. The image at the top shows the guys matching in an ombré tone which with all 5 is slight overkill, but nonetheless shows how you can take a theme and wear it different ways.

- The next photo shows refined casino wear. Black and dark grey tones are excellent for sophistication yet the glasses with a coloured lense adds character; warning not suitable for all, take a good friend when picking eyewear as it is hard to tell what looks good on yourself. Eyewear is another way to carve out a unique style for yourself as each person looks good in their own shape/colour.

- Aviators. Yes please. Men if you can wear them and most of you can, please do, they are very attractive. If you are feeling adventurous then you can also rock the Ray-Ban style but the same rules for glasses apply, don't go buying them by yourself and get a colour that suits EVERYTHING you'll wear them with! (i.e. black or dark blue)

- Finally, Trousers/Jeans. None of the men in Oceans' wear baggy trousers. Right now that's been said; trousers again must match the suit, but overly skinny jeans or trousers are intimidating as it can make you look vacuum packed. Try trousers on, sit in them and walk around in them! They have to look good in all positions!

So remember gents, look polished and dress for your age. I expect to see a remake of the oceans films with eleven equally attractive men and you could be one of them!

False Eyelashes, really scary!

Hello everyone,

Today's post is about false eyelashes, and how scary most people make them look!

I love the idea in principle, making your eyelashes look fuller and without clumps is brilliant! But the whole blocks of black plastic hair that are stuck with glue seeping from the corners of the wearers eyes, that look like fans wafting and hitting your eyebrows is just a bit strange.

The best bit is that fashion created these for nights out and catwalk shows, however the amount of times I have seen people just popping out to the shops in full fake eyelashes and scaring everyone that they see! I think the worst thing is the ridiculous notion that girls think that they look normal wearing them, and with a full orange fake-tan they just look more alien than if they wore no make up and were just natural.

So ladies, if you want to wear false eyelashes then please consult a friend or, if you are lucky, make up artist to help you put them on. But the most important thing is that you pick eyelashes that suit you! Do not go for full sets if you only need a few individual ones, but seriously a good mascara and curlers will fix most situations and should be tried first if you haven't already.

So I am really tired and am off to bed, been working all week!

Lots of luv,

Fluff Cat Friday!

Hey all,

So today has been manic, and I'm shattered. The combo means this post is in under the wire, sorry.

I wanted to start a new feature which will include a picture of my beloved cat Woozle, who at four years younger than me, wears her age well lol!

I know this is not really fashion related but it gives me the chance to put my musings down along with it. Today I will include a poem I wrote, called "LOVE":

"LOVE"

Austen wrote many a tale,
and the Bronte three,
of love and true heroism,
and the beauty of chivalry.

Darcy was a solitary man,
who had the love of she,
but when his cold exterior did thaw,
he found his wife to be.

Yet even those to whom love is fate,
and will forever see,
will have their troubles true of heart,
before love sets them free.

The words I write aim to please,
my ever wandering soul,
for I am in another world,
and yet I have been told,
the world is out there for me to seek,
unlimited lies in front of me.

At this moment, in my dream,
I am as steadfast as a tree.

Love has always appeared in my life,
over the centuries it remains,
it takes its time to reach full bloom,
and on its way causes many pains
 -
But despite this side affect,
we take the good with the bad,
for the chance you take to fall in love,
is worth the twang of sad.

Luv you all,

Things I am excited about!

Hello again,

So this post is a bit on a whim, as I am on my way to work and I have some time to make today's post so I will!

I have decided to write my Top 4 things I am excited about that are coming up in my life (most are fashion based).

1. I cannot wait to buy my yellow jacket from Boden, after successfully buying a dress from them a week ago, with my first ever pay check, I'm going to splurge. Well I am worth it lol!

2. Like most fashion bloggers and those in the industry I am particularly excited about the R-Patz with Dior commercials that are soon to be released. The arty trailers and stills are teasing us until the real thing comes. He is so hot!

3. I want to get a kilt for A/W but I am waiting for the perfect one. My late great-grandad was Scottish so it seems only fitting that I get one. It needs to be bright red tartan and the ideal length, I will keep looking.

4. I am looking forward to going back to college. It is my last year before I can leave education and start the next phase of my life. I will eventually go to university but I have been given the opportunity to take a gap year before I apply and have decided that its the best option for myself. However I have a year to plan it, I will travel and get some work experience, basically make the most of it that I can!

So that's what I've got to look forward too! Woohoo!

Hope you are all well! Comment or like this post if you want! It would be nice to hear from you all!

Luv you all,

I'm with the band...

Rock on everyone,

So I am actually a big music fan of diverse taste which not many people know. My first concert was The Darkness playing in the old Wembley Arena, they were supported by Ash which was incredible, I was 7 or something and Justin (the leader singer) found out the security alarms were going off in his house but instead of calling off the show he simply said "it must go on!" (Maybe with a few more swear words lol!).

To put it plainly, that night, fuelled by my mums endless playing of her favourite music; bands such as Bon Jovi, The Black Crowes, Fleetwood Mac etc., began a love that would lead to me having the most diverse iPod of anyone I know. I can have the Jonas Brothers next to Nirvana on a shuffle!

This music taste has heavily influenced my dress sense, but my favourite part is the T-shirt. I am addicted to buying them, not just band ones but them in general. However, my collection is well stocked with tees that express my love of music! One of my faves is my mums home-made Black Crowes tee that is tie-dye (see below).

Back in time, band t-shirts were a guy or girls way to say "I am with this band, loyal and dedicated, a fan and a follower" but with the recent trends in fashion on the high street to bring album art and logos to the masses, this loyalty has been replaced with "I liked the look of the logo so I bought the top, I actually have never listened to the band." Me and my friends have often had discussions where we have asked people if they love the band/album as much as we do, to hear back that they don't even know who they are. It's frustrating as a music fan to hear that.

It used to be that tees were the way to spot fellow fans and connected people with common interests. Now it is not that easy, as I have discovered, but I guess we all have access to social networks to keep in touch with fellow fans and the humble t-shirt has lost is place in most modern fandoms. However, I know that they will not be going anywhere soon, especially not in my world as my collection will not stop growing, I still have some that I would love to get!

This is my most recent one bought at The 02 on 23rd March 2013:

Here are some I would love to get:
(Buy from 21 Century Clothing @ amazon.co.uk, £14.99)

(Buy from the AC/DC store @ acdc.fanfire.com, £12.95)

(Buy from amazon.co.uk, £14.99)

I will leave you with some wise words from another true rock god:

Haul!!

Hello everyone!

So as I mentioned before I have been shopping a lot! This is a kinda continuation from the last post except everything I have bought is from the UK so I guess it's a home haul lol!

  • I went to the River Island sale and bought this tee, jumper and jacket. The t-shirt was just too cool - one problem is the sizing as it said it was a size 8 but it so wasn't, unless it was supposed to be a dress as it was still baggy on me and I am not a size 8 at all! The jacket is fab! I just love it's quirkiness and the jumper, well my name is Amber so it seemed only right that I bought it, if not because it was cool but just for self promotion lol!

  • I also went to Accessorize which is a place I just can't resist and bought this owl bag. I have no place to wear it yet but I don't care! I love it!

  • I have also been buying make up! I bought this MAC palette of eye shadow because it is all the colours I was looking for and because its MAC it will be good quality. (MAC palette in pastellux, £30)

  • I also discovered this shop that I had never been in before called "& other stories" on Regent Street in London. The shop is so cool, it had everything, from posh shampoo (£19 per bottle, ouch), to the cutest hair accessories that my mum bought and clothes, bags and make up! I bought this little eyelash brush for £2 because I find that even with the ultimate mascara (Diorshow waterproof 090 black, £28) sometimes my eyelashes clump too much and I will use it to fan them out. I tested it this morning and it works!

  • I also bought a t-shirt from David & Goliath (£10) which is so cute, I am a bit of a nerd and I have a cat which makes this Mew-bacca tee all the more appropriate.

  • My local supermarket is an ASDA and whilst getting some food I picked up this cute jumper (£16) that is not only dark red which is the colour of the season but it's also so comfy!

So that is my recent haul, I need to stop now or I am going to run out of money and won't be able to go anywhere!!

Luv you all,

Holiday! Celebrate!

Hello everyone!

I am sorry I have been so quiet recently, it has been hectic getting back from my holidays, working at a law firm and having large hiccups happening in my life in a period of two weeks. But I am back and pleased to say that I am feeling better!

So I have been shopping so much recently and as I don't want this post to be too long I will separate it into what I bought on holiday and what I have bought in the last few weeks.

Today therefore is the holiday shopping post. I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in the idyllic area of Tolo on the Peloponnese in Greece and the shopping was good. We went by boat to Hydra and Spetses and went by coach into Nafplio as well as getting to enjoy the beautiful surrounding that we had in the town itself. I had huge amounts of fun shopping and everything I bought is beautiful.

So here are the pics of what I bought and where:

Tally Weijl, Nafplio:

^This is a camouflage vest although its folded, it is seriously cool!^

^This is two sides of the same bag, I loved it and it was a till buy, I can't wait to wear it!^

^I have seen these everywhere but I loved this one so much I had to have it!^

Pink Woman, Nafplio:

^I love these, they are so pretty!^

 ^This is just a bit epic!^

(I also bought some pink trousers but they are being washed so are without a pic)

Jasmine, Hydra:

^These are my new holiday trousers, they are so pretty!^

^This is jade, it's beautiful, I wore it non-stop!^

Assorted shops in Tolo and Nafplio:

^This is the perfect handbag for me, I took it to work experience, it was very Legally Blonde lol!^

^These are three necklaces I bought on my travels, one at the top is a gold fairy, one in the middle is a butterfly and the one at the bottom is a white kitten, very much like Woozle!^

So as you can see I was very busy shopping, and I haven't stopped yet. The next post will be called Haul as I guess I have been buying a lot!!

Happy summer to you all!

Luv,

LDN Teenage Fashionista xx♥

N.B. I also got a replacement pair of espadrilles from Hydra which will no doubt feature soon.

Let your wild side out...

Hey guys,

I posted a teaser pic from this post over a week ago and for some unknown reason it has taken me a while to post it. Sorry!!!

Anyway this post features three of my birthday presents; my yellow camouflage scarf, my Marilyn Monroe handbag and my grey leopard tee in my outfit, as well as my beloved snake skin effect sandals from Clarks and my green shorts from New Look. Hence the name for this post is let your wild side out due to its safari style.

This is me in my outfit:

N.B that I am also wearing my mums vintage bangles that you'll see close up below as well as the other accessories,

So when I was dressed, I headed onto Oxford Street to meet my friend Marie for a catch up and a light shop in the summer sales - can you believe you can buy winter jumpers already! It's not even stopped being sunny yet!

Being a light shop I didn't splurge but I did buy this dress from Bershka for £20 which is beautiful and I can't wait to wear it!

So I hope you're all having a good summer wherever you are, thanks to all of you for reading and liking this page, I really love you all!

Luv,
