The Difficult Journey of Love: The Final Poem...

Hey guys,

So this is it. The final chapter of my poetry story "The Difficult Journey of Love", so I have been lucky enough to get to share this with you over a number of weeks and this is the culmination of it.

In this poem, simply titled "..." the couple meet in a park to talk things through after a long emotional ride, the man is once again single but the woman is still with her boyfriend who has the same name as the man, but the man has one last shot so here is:

"..."

You once needed me to be true to you,
I thought I was doing the best could do,
I admit that marrying someone else was rash,
When all said and done,
It was gone in a flash.

You give me this meeting,
Five minutes that's all -
Before you have to answer that call.
Your new one he loves you,
Yet he has my name -
The games that you play are always the same.

I ended it with her,
Please don't cry,
Just tell me your feelings,
And don't ever lie.

You tell me you love me,
You always have,
But was worried I'd cheat,
And act like a cad.

But when you watched
As I gave her my vow,
You knew I had changed -
And you felt like a cow.

Because you wanted to -
Put yourself into her place,
But you gave up that right,
So fled with grace.

This day on a park bench,
Surrounded by tress,
You pulled out a ring,
And got down on one knee.

You looked up to me,
With a tear in your eye,
Oh how I hate to see you cry,
"These are tears of joy"
You delight as you say,
"I'll love you forever, marry me today"
"I'll be loyal and faithful"
I answer in reply,
"Our history is being written -
And our stars in the sky"

I hope you enjoyed it, it felt natural to write,

Luv,

Google Reader Goes!

Hey guys,

Sorry I wasn't more vocal on this but I didn't realise how soon the deadline was. Basically from tomorrow those of you who follow me via Google Friend Connect will loose me as Google Reader shuts down :(

If you look on the left hand sidebar you'll find all the links to follow me in as many ways as possible, and I hope you do, as I hope this feels like a very personal connection between me and you, one that I would hate to loose.

So please if you would like to follow another way do, I have two posts lined up for later today so I hope you will enjoy them!

As I like photos, and I love my cat Woozle, here is something that will combine them both:

The Difficult Journey of Love Part 6: The Last Fight

Hey guys,

So this is the penultimate poem oooh! This one is called "The Last Fight" and well it was very easy to write as although I have never been through love like this I saw this scene play out in my head like a movie. It is the man who is arguing with his current wife before the final poem takes place.

Well it rather speaks for itself:

"The Last Fight"

The break up,
The break apart,
The rows and the screams,
With all that it means.

The end,
Call time,
On this song,
And this rhyme.

We are over,
I'm done,
Come on Hun -
We've had fun.

But our child's not mine,
You've wasted my time,
I'm gone, we are over,
Let the bells chime.

Final part tomorrow, I hope you like it as much as I do.

Luv,

Fashion in Film - Sex and The City

Hey guys,

Ok so this morning it is raining in London - shock! Also I have become a tennis fan, maybe years of my great granddad making me watch it has cultivated a love for it - I'm going to root for Laura Robson, she is so inspirational, and it is nice to have an iconic British player that is female, especially for us fans who don't like Murray.
So I'm writing this on my way to a university conference and my iPod is blasting in my ears, it is psychic and just knows what I want to listen to. But anyway, this post is not about me; it's about four ladies and one very big city.

Sex and The City is one of America's greatest exports. Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte captured women's hearts around the world with their crap boyfriends and intriguing lives that seemed to deal with every problem we all go through. Although it was a very female orientated show I think it gave men an insight into the lives of women and what we go through in a relationship, like giving away secrets of our lives.

The ladies all have such unique styles and I love that they rock their own look, sometimes it's retro and sometimes it is haute couture, whatever it is, its always fabulous.

Sex and The City has taught me many things, from how to shop with unlimited funds and with a custom wardrobe, to how to spend hours with my girlfriends having the funniest times of my life.

Thank you ladies,

Luv,

The Difficult Journey of Love Part 5: Too Late

Hey guys,

A short one from "The Difficult Journey of Love" which is from the man point of view as he tries to move on from his true love, well tries at least.

Here it is:

"Too Late"

I wish that I had told her,
And told her time again,
Then we could grow older,
Me and my best friend.

But now I am with someone else,
Someone that isn't you,
Her beauty really set her free,
And yet she's not the one for me.

You will be forever on my mind,
Across all years, throughout all time,
And then when the time is due,
I'll name my daughter after you.

I hope that you guys have been enjoying this series, I would love to hear what you think.

Hope you've had a good weekend,

She's still Jenny from the Block...

Hey guys,

There are still more Fashion in Film posts to come but for a moment I would love to make a special post to an idol of mine: Jennifer Lopez.

Two days ago J-Lo was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her speech was so inspirational but she has always been an inspiration to me and maybe the best inspiration for the modern woman in general. To come from the Bronx in NYC to global domination and to still keep her feet on the ground, for me there is no better role model for women. I love that she doesn't just do one thing, she's not just a singer, she's an all consuming tidal wave of talent and kindness. I've never met her, if I ever do I will probably love her more if that's even possible.

I wanted to also give you some of her famous quotes so I guess its a bit of a J-Lo love fest. Did I forget to mention she is beautiful! Oh yeah and she works for humanitarian causes and is a business woman and has two of the cutest children ever. I have to stop typing or I never will so here I present the 2,500th Star on the Walk of Fame but I think the brightest star of them all. JLo.

"Doubt is a killer. You just have to know who you are and what you stand for."

"You can't plan life. There's bad things and its tough. Its hard every day and then something beautiful happens. Then its tough again and you are struggling and then there's a miracle, and that's really what life is. Its not just perfect all the time, but we have those amazing moments that make everything worth it."

Well it is safe to say I identify a lot with her and she is amazing.
Congrats Jenny on your star and thank you for being an icon,

The Difficult Journey of Love Part 4: Closure...

Hey guys,

This is part 4 of 7 so this is heading towards the climax now, I will aim to finish this story by next week. This poem is the woman reeling from watching the man she loves marry someone else and then she tries to find someone else to fill the whole in her heart. Will she be able to do it?

So here it is:

"Closure"

Those two words rung out
And are plastered on my heart
As we are not together,
We must learn to live apart.

I told myself we are over,
And tried to live on,
I'm definitely getting closure,
By writing down this song.

And although my heart is empty,
And you have moved away,
I hope that I will love again,
And this time it will stay.

I met a guy yesterday,
Who had a name like yours,
At first I kept my heart at bay
From running out the doors.

But with every passing minute,
Your image is fading away,
And in your place,
He will always stay.

I hope you like this,

Luv,

Fashion in Film - Clueless...

Hey guys,

So this post comes with helping hand of retro, although this time it's the 90's that influenced my film of today - Clueless.

Clueless, released in 1995, tracks the life of Cher and her friends. One of them being Tai, played by the late Brittany Murphy, who is the new girl looking to Cher to guide her through Beverly Hills life. The film itself is a romantic comedy based upon Emma by Jane Austen but the clothes worn by all the characters are something of legend.

Cher in the film has a wardrobe which is computer generated so she can see what her clothes will look like on herself and then select them that way, which I think is pretty genius and if my wardrobe gets any bigger is something I want.

The matching plaid suits are particularly iconic, the shocking yellow one is quiet a piece of costume genius! Also, the tight, bodycon red dress with a Cher touch of a white feather boa is something that these days would seem avant garde but for her was perfect, centre of attention is Cher's way.

According to GLAMOUR magazine this Clueless look is back in fashion, I'm not sure I'm bold enough to try but I can't wait to see it. I also discovered that the brand WILDFOX has created a Clueless them collection which you can see if you click here, it is cool how similar and in the style of the movie the clothes are and the outfits look super cute.

Hope you are ok, college is making me very tired at the moment!!

Fashion in Film - Breakfast at Tiffany's...

Hey guys,

I have been planning this blog for a long time now and I have been thinking of ways to get my opinions on film and fashion into a reasonable post that do the films justice. So I have decided to a series this on 7 films that range from the old to the new, which have either changed or reflected fashion of the era they represent.

Today's focus is the iconic Breakfast at Tiffany's. Based on the book of the same name by Truman Capote, both it and the film exude glamour and panache, however it was the film and Miss Audrey Hepburn which made a fashion statement.

Audrey, as Miss Holly Golightly created an iconic look that defined an era. The little black dress, strings of pearls, dark glasses and the wide-brimmed hat became a style of its own. Jewels of Tiffany's were desirable beyond compare and everyone wanted to wear silk gloves and clutch a cigarette holder just to emulate one of the most desired look of the sixties.

The reason that I picked this film as the first one on my fashion in film series is because the style keeps re-entering the fashion scene and the workings of the genius' at the costume department under Mr Givenchy not only made an icon of Audrey, but made iconic fashion out of Capote's words.

So lets all cheer for an iconic fashion film, next one coming tomorrow!
Luv as always,

The Difficult Journey of Love Part 3...

Hey guys,

All my exams are over! Yay! I will finish my blog about movies and fashion tonight but for now here is the third part of The Difficult Journey of Love which moves the relationship to a new setting and the woman has taken back the narrative.

So here it is:

"You Always Had My Heart"

Standing at the altar,
I'm forever yours,
This should last forever
But can we ever be sure.

You know all about me,
You always had my heart,
Will this last forever?
Or will we fall apart?

Make your vows,
And take my hand -
You'll be forever true -
You will be my perfect man
And make my dreams come true.

At least for now I hope you'll be,
As I look to you,
As I go to take my vow,
She turns and says,
"I do" ...

I hope you like it guys, part 4 will be posted later this week.

Luv,
